Get your Paypal account verified with Union Bank EON Debit Card

For PayPal users in the Philippines, you might be having a lot of confusions, fears and misconceptions about having your PayPal account verified so you could lift your sending and withdrawing of funds accounts. Yes, indeed this is already possible but you have to follow all the process properly to avoid getting rejected in the end.

Actually I have a bank account and a check card from one US-based bank. When I registered with PayPal, I tried to get verified with these cards and bank account. However, due to my poor reading comprehension, I wasn’t able to follow the right instructions so the verification process was denied. Worse, the accounts were forever banned from PayPal so I had to get another credit card.

Fortunately, I heard the buzzes from the entire blogosphere saying that Paypal had already expanded their country of coverage so Philippines is now part of the PayPal domains. Then it was said that EON debit cards from Union Bank could be used to get your PayPal accounts verified. And here’s how we did got verified.

  1. Since I’m currently outside the Philippines, it would be impossible for me to apply for this Philippine based debit card so I applied and registered online for my wife. Click Click here for the online application.
  2. After 4 days, my wife got an email from Union Bank informing her to claim her EON card at the branch we had indicated during the online application. We preferred to claim it in Dasmariñas branch since it’s the nearest to our home.
  3. On the informed date, my wife claimed her EON card from chosen branch. We paid the registration fee of Php 350.00 to claim the card.
  4. I asked my wife to deposit an initial amount on the card so we can use it to register with PayPal. Note that you have to place at least a Php 100.00 since PayPal will debit US$1.85 from your account to confirm your ownership of this card. (Don’t get too worried about it since you’ll be able to get it back after you’re verified. Also, PayPal will need this to be able to send you your Expanded Use Number.)
  5. Then we enrolled our EON VISA card from the Union Bank Online banking.
  6. We registered the card for verification with PayPal and waited for 3 days for our EXPUSE number to appear on EON account online. However, we already waited for some time but we still could not find the 4-digit EXPUSE number from our transaction records although there’s already some amounts withdrawn from our account on the transaction history. So I asked my wife to check with the customer service. The Union Bank CS informed us that it would take at least 15 banking days before we could see the EXPUSE number reflected on our account online, though they gave us the 4-digit numbers after some identity identification process.
  7. After getting the numbers, I entered it on my PayPal account and VOILA! We got verified!

Our EON card was actually denied when I first tried to have it registered. Maybe because I did not wait enough time for the deposit to be reflected on the card. After 3 days without doing anything, I tried to register the same card and fortunately it was accepted.

We can now go shopping in the speed of light!

I just got my EON card too. I got frustrated though when it was denied on my first try. I totally overlooked the fact na kailangan may laman pala ang account. Sheesh. Tomorrow pa lang ako makakapagdeposit. Then I’ll follow the steps you outlined here. :)

For me, I already knew that it will really need an initial deposit since PayPal will take an amount from it. The problem was, I did not wait for the deposit to be reflected on the account. Lecheng Union Bank naman kase yan ang bagal ng clearing. hahaha!

Don’t forget to call their customer service after 3 days to follow up for your EXPUSE number. 15 days pa kase before mag-reflect sa online banking mo yun e.

heinz, sorry for the late response. have you tried calling eon bank customer service? the cs representatives could trace the issue for you.

yuanito, nope. it’s not the CCV number. EXPUSE is the Expanded (or Exclusive) use number that you will need to enter in your paypal account to be verified. When you call Union Bank EON CS, just ask for the EXPUSE number. They’ll ask you some questions for identification then they’ll give you the EXPUSE number.

Got something to say?
